There are many different ways of keeping fit with something to suit everyone and there will be a great variety on display at the Mayfair. It will be a great opportunity to find out more and even have a go at some of them:

  • Zumba:  a Latin-inspired easy to follow dance fitness class, which is fun and exhilarating.  There are routines  designed for everyone’s abilities and all ages including dancers, non-dancers and new exercisers.  See the demo and find out more from Alison who runs classes at Mayfield and Frant
  • Skateboarding/BMX: all those who like the idea of manoeuvring on wheels (skateboards, skates, scooters, bikes) can see demonstrations by professionals from Progression UK and have some free coaching to improve their skills and tricks
  • Rugby: Mayfield scouts are organising a tag rugby competition – score a try against scout competition (50p for 10 goes with a prize for the winner.   There will also be a chance to find out more about rugby for anyone who is interested
  • Physique: will be running a fun street dance session where participants can learn a mini dance routine. Henry who runs Physique will be answering general questions about fitness and offering a chance to win a free personal training session and a six week fit camp pass
  • Horticulture: gardening can be wonderful exercise as well as an enjoyable and stimulating pastime.  Mayfield Horticultural Society have a stand where you can find out more and maybe learn a few tips
  • Football: fancy yourself as Lionel Messi or Kelly Smith (England women’s top scorer)?  Have a go in Mayfield Football Club’s penalty competition.  You can also find out more about the club, when and where they train and play
  • FIT: see a display of techniques used by professional fighters to promote fitness and wellbeing including boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai and Wing Chun. Paul will tell you about his classes where no sparring is involved for beginners generally there is an even mix of men & women.
  • Bowls: Mayfield Bowls club will be bowling a few bowls to demonstrate the objectives and skills of this sport.  As well as being a healthy activity it is a very friendly/sociable game with technique and strategy for all ages
