The 2015 Mayfield Mayfair was held on Saturday 9th of May. Just as we were setting up in the High Street the rain came and we had rapidly to rush to Court Meadow to use the village hall and Scout hut. This meant the procession was cancelled and the stall holders had to move their stalls as quickly as possible. Our apologies to everyone who was affected, but the weather did make our life difficult.
However, after the hiccup at the start, the fair went successfully and the sun even shone after the initial downpour.
Five local schools gave a wonderful disply of Maypole dancing
- Mayfield pre-school
- Mark Cross primary school
- Skippers Hill Manor preparatory school
- Bricklehurst Manor school
- Pembury primary school
with the music provided by Mayfield Band.
During the afternoon the Robin Hooders performed traditional mummers’ plays and the Ashdown Forest Morris Men danced for us.
Other attractions included a display of classic cars and Mayfield fire engineas well as many stalls with arts and crafts, local produce and bric a brac – visit the Mayfield Mayfair Facebook page for more news and pictures of stalls and attractions
There was also our usual great choice of food and drink including a Hog Roast, BBQ, Pimms bar, craft beer stall, strawberries, ice creams, teas and cakes.

All proceeds from the Mayfair will go towards Christmas lights for the village. We are making a real effort to ensure the High Street is well decorated this Christmas and shows off the village in the best way possible.
